Labor's College

With the National Labor College (NLC) in Silver Spring, MD, America's unions have their own college: the nation's only accredited higher education institution devoted exclusively to educating union members, leaders and staff.

Now you can apply for 3 online degree programs:

In 2011, Union Plus has provided 91 scholarships totalling $70,000 for the NLC degree programs.

Each year, $25,000 is awarded to eligible students through the new Union Plus National Labor College Scholarship. Awards are determined and administered by the National Labor College; they typically award roughly 12 recipients with financial need every quarter, including January, April, July and October.

New Building Trades President's Award

Starting with the January 2012 semester, Union Plus is offering the Union Plus NLC Building Trades President's Award, over $13,500 in scholarships for building trades union members who enroll in one of the three new online degree completion programs.  Seventeen scholarships of $795 (3 credit course cost) each are available.

Eligibility: Current dues-paying members of building trades unions offering Union Plus programs: Bricklayers (BAC), Boilermakers, IBEW, IBT, Insulators, Ironworkers, IUEC, IUPAT, LIUNA, OPCMIA, Roofers, SMWIA, and UA.  Scholarship recipients must also agree to provide feedback about the NLC program upon completion of their first class. You'll be eligible for these scholarships as part of the NLC enrollment process.

How to apply:  Contact the National Labor College (NLC) at 1-888-427-0300 or www.NLC.edu.  Deadline to apply for the January 2012 semester is December 12, 2011.

All Union Plus NLC scholarships are sponsored by the Union Plus Education Foundation and administered by the National Labor College. The Foundation's donation to the National Labor College represents the largest financial aid contribution to the college.
